Space is a interesting topic to explore with. Space is about where and also about who (people using the space), when (changes of the space from time to time), how (the usage of the space), what (things include in the space).
For the drawing week, we are asked to research a space within the area of University of Huddersfiled. The purpose of the task, I think, is to understand the term 'liminal space' by life drawing. During the process of sketching and drawing, details and changes of the space may be discovered.
I choose canal side between the business school and the central service building as my study area.
At first, the area is sketched and identified.
Then, I try to produce a willow pattern drawing base on my observation and also highlight the pathway.
I found this place interesting because of the flow of the pathway. The pathway is surrounded by the plants and trees, it is hardly to be seen. While I walk through it, I realise this is not just a one way route. At start, there is stairs which can bring you to somewhere else of the university. However, if you choose to follow the path and go straight, you will come to a junction. You may choose to turn left and cross the bridge or you could continue to go straight.
