Seminar Note:
Research is a way of learning by study external materials or documents. In order to effectively benefit from research, we must identify our intention of research, to give a clear aim and direction by choosing appropriate information. The outcome of research gives a great consciousness on ourself, reflect the strands which best describe our practices and position ourself in a proper level. Research on art usually involve completed piece of art done by other artist. When we look at other people's work, we need to know what precisely it is the work represent. Through historical research, we learn about things that other people have done and inform our personalise style of work.
Feedback:
After this seminar, I revised the researches I have done before, to re-examine my weakness and strength in researching and enhance utility of the information I have. What I gained most from the seminar is feedback and suggestion from Alison. After I told her about my project (Japanese Myth) and problems, she suggest that understanding will be different when research undergoes in different places (in case of 'Japanese Myth', doing this project in Japan will be different doing it in Britain, since the resources available various and another factors like understanding due to sub-culture). Now I have a new direction in research, as she suggested, I could try to look at how British present the Japanese artefact, i.e. in The British Library or look at British orientalism, observed the eastern world in the perspective of British.
