At first, I try to visualise snow women according to the original text and play with the idea of kimono.

In cultural aspect, kimono (can also translate as clothing in Japanese) in historical context was a symbol of social class system. So I thought I can use this concept to experiment identity of woman in historical culture.

Woman of the upper class in kosode (=short-sleeved kimono) of Keicho period (The Costume Museum, n.d.) |
Then the idea of 'beauty' brought me to Ukiyo-e, which illustration of woman is one of popular theme of the artwork. I found Ukiyo-e very interesting because its content not only recorded everyday life of the particular period, its theme of the content also reflect people appreciation towards beautiful things around them . The subject in my opinion, presented quite dramatic.
